The Story Behind Our Reserve

Established in 2022, the Torres del Paine Conservation Reserve was once home to three important cattle ranches. Estancia Santa Gemita boasted one of the most impressive locations, overlooking the majestic Paine Mountain Range.

El Mercado was a small estate featuring an impressive lenga forest. Estancia 2 de Enero was a large ranch, and its buildings are still preserved to this day.

Horseback Riding

Guided equine Explorations at the Reserve are available from our expansive stables, home to Explora’s very own horses. These stunning creatures are bred exclusively from Arabian, English and Chilean horse lines, and cared for by the gauchos. Whether you’re a member or a guest, you can schedule a ride or horseback excursion for yourself and your companions.

Traditional Quincho

An authentic characteristic of Patagonia, the quincho on the Reserve is designed to honor the work culture of the estancia.

A gathering place for traditional asado barbecues, the Quincho resembles a traditional sheep shearing shed and showcases remnants of the historic infrastructure and work that once took place within the Reserve.

Explora Guest House

Nestled in a picturesque forest within the Reserve, our Guest House is a warm and inviting space where members enjoy exclusive access to services and hospitality, including coursed meals and overnight accommodations.
