Investing in Nature with Explora Conservation Reserves
Our goal is to impact 2.5 million acres (one million hectares) around the world through various conservation initiatives. Explora’s Torres Del Paine Conservation Reserve is first of its kind to extend ownership of protected lands to members — and one of many Conservation Reserves we aim to create as part of establishing a new and innovative global benchmark for sustainable conservation. Science and technology are key pillars in the development of this project.
The process of selecting Conservation Reserves worldwide is based on a formula that combines remote locations, awe-inspiring beauty, and landscapes that encourage the adventure of exploration. These factors are complemented by an analysis of the area's biodiversity and its need for conservation.
How It All Started
Thirty years ago, a group of friends passionate about travel and unconventional adventures founded Explora. Starting in Chilean Patagonia, we began a journey of deep exploration that has led us to be recognized as the World’s Leading Expedition Company (2019-2023), after being the first in South America for nearly a decade.
Our purpose is clear: To explore remote destinations in order to expand our perspectives, push our limits, share life stories, and connect deeply with nature. We promote conservation through in-depth exploration, understanding the importance and fragility of these unique territories and driving the urgency to protect them. This is how the Torres del Paine Conservation Reserve was born.
